Freedom Unbroken

Freedom is when we are unbroken. Having the ability to live a sustainable life. One dilled with substance. Giving opportunity, joy, love, and an absolute uplifting fulfillment with all that you desire and with all of whom fills your heart. Finding a place of safety and wellness ultimately with the world, especially while it remains quite ill.

Freedom is health, the ability to strengthen yourself everyday mentally, physically, spiritually, and how you are able to do so for yourself and with others.
Freedom is loving, caring, sharing, and uplifting one another rather than breaking eachother down. Freedom from within is being as good as one chooses to be. External freedom is simply living and doing so humanely. Enough hate, enough brokenness. May we see more healing with love.

Freedom is the ability to pick yourself up no matter how far or hard the fall. Healing from your breaks, strengthening your weaknesses, and maintaining this with everyday that moves you forward.Rather than be consumed with all that can possibly bring you down, do not take for granted all that you do have that truly lifts and keeps you up.

Freedom is life, one that is unpredictable so live each day as a miracle, because you are.
July 5th is that day of freedom for me. A day I reflect on all that may have physically broken me and tried keeping me down, but a day I celebrate life and how I never let one day go for granted.
I may have been physically crushed, but I never let anything break the core of who I ever was, and only gaining the strength for becoming who I am today. Most importantly, how I share this life with others. Remember this always for you too.

Stay strong, pick yourself up, and uplift others along the way. No one is hopeless and everyone has the opportunity to be healed- physically and emotionally.
Life is a miracle, let’s continue to live it in such a way we can celebrate this one opportunity together.

Unitywith community!

This was me in my wheelchair after surviving a freak crushing accident leaving me with a broken back, hip, femur, and pelvis. In the process of surgery- physically weak, almost paralyzed and several complications along the way that almost took my life.

God is always amazing and so are people as I experienced as my life savior during this time and numerous moments throughout. People are beautiful when they choose to be. I never take a day of life for granted, and I always choose to uplift others at every opportunity because I know what it is like to be broken down. This is not what life was intended for, so may we continue to lift one another.

Your Healing Journey and Achieving Your Greatest Mental Health. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I recently had the honor of speaking as a guest with NAMI Greater Houston, the 501c3 non-profit organization that provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can better their lives. A healing community that helps others gain resiliency on their road to wellness on a local, state and national level.

Throughout my virtual visit with NAMI, we were able to connect with community facing their own set of difficult challenges, especially during this year of the COVID pandemic. We spoke on how to start on your healing journey and how to maintain that personal freedom of peace as we continue forward in our journeys. Our healing journeys.

Some very key points that were brought up included how can others get involved to help community, especially when it came to mental health awareness and beating the negative stigma of mental health. The first thing I said was “We all have to know that is OK to have the need be OK!”. We all have and will go through something in our lifetime and none of us are alone when it comes to facing challenges. There is never room for anyone to ever feel above or ever make anyone feel below another, and no one is ever too important to simply show compassion and care.

Sharing some of my greatest achievements in overcoming some of my own life greatest challenges and it was always community that was my biggest blessing to do so. I can’t emphasize enough on the importance of community to remain in unity. It is not just how we survive, but it is how we thrive- Together!

With each blessing we receive throughout our journey, our triumphs over challenge, recovery, healing, gains, learning, and growth, we continue to share this with others. Our voice is our power and that for others who have not yet found their voice, especially when we cannot reach them physically. We are here to contribute, not take away from another or deprived on the things that are needed the most, especially in crisis. Revisiting the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Sharing our experiences provides resources and never forgetting our story is how we remain compassionate with others too.

There is a conflict in society where as a whole, it hasn’t learned how to accept and be ok with REAL life. What is portrayed, viewed, or admired to see life through a perfect lens, is only disguising and burying the underlining factors that enable lack of awareness, judgement, stigma, and it is only highly encouraged for others to be able to open their eyes for views beyond their surroundings. Providing a wider ability to view community and how society can shift in a much more true and holistic direction when it comes to caring for one another and accepting all of REAL LIFE.

In the way that we see others and most importantly connect, is on much more than a surface level. Our ability to understand on a deeper level for greater positive outcomes in which helps in every aspect of life- the workplace, relationships, as well as ourselves. When we are able to see through another’s perspective, hear what they hear, feel what they feel, we cannot have anything less than compassion. In the very real world, we are all hurting, suffer, face daily challenges, and we are all in need of compassion, love, and support for healing. The truth is, this is real life! We must be ok as a society to accept and support one another rather than disguising what isn’t ok, nothing or anyone is perfectly ok. The first step of taking on your personal healing journey, is honesty. Honesty first with ourselves, and others. It takes a lot of courage and self growth to get to where we want and need to be for ourselves. The truth we may see can hurt, but overcoming and thriving is our greatest lifelong reward.

Health is our wealth and without it nothing else matters. Health is not only for life but our abilit to live well. May we always strive to take care of self, one another, support, build and grow together as a whole community, a whole world. Right now the world is headed in a chronic state of disease. It is up to all of us to do what we can to nurture and supply the vital nutrients to reverse this process while we can before there is no point of return.

WE can start with self care. However, I am not referring to the monthly salon trips or occasional outing, but it is a daily practice that we have as a life style. Self care reflects on understanding our limits, being truthful with ourselves, others, knowing that it is ok to slow down and doing so when needed. Taking time in everyday to stop and reflect analyze, and redirect ourselves if and when we find ourselves lost, on the wrong path, and need to make positive and significant changes to our lives for the absolute greater good, our needs, and our personal growth. Reflect everyday. Know where you stand with yourself and where your peace stands with you at the end of each one.

Longevity and sustainability to our physical and mental health is when we take on and fill our lives with continuous positive action, thoughts, and people. A lifestyle that is of great habits and not letting anything or anyone come in between all things that are good for you. Always remember that we are here to contribute, not take away from another. Stress not only breaks down our physical bodies, but our mental health as well. Self care is not just for us, but it is also how we can better take of others as well. Anytime we are in a vulnerable state with challenges, there is a higher risk. Higher risk of losing control, especially when there is a lack of resources. Most often the hope of many is placed in others during the most challenging of times. This is humanity, our natural state of being and with unit being ingrained in community, we are never meant to stand alone. No one is ever hopeless or helpless. We are not alone.

Community is never to be segregated but to be with wholeness. How many people can honestly say the feel wholeness within themselves. When we work towards a shift as a whole community on how we love, give, support, help, build, and provide, we are working at a constant state of wholeness. Never losing the meaning of community is where we thrive. Together we build stairs to climb, rather than knocking each other down to get ahead, and many not in the right direction or even knowing where the are going. It is easy to get lost alone, but we will always find our way together. Never lose your courage or your faith. This will only take you where it is you need to go.

It starts from within and we can only choose how we build. Each and everyone of us are equipped with a set of tools and none are the same. We can’t successfully build alone as we will always be in the need for something. We can’t build a foundation or a strong building with missing tools. Building is always meant to do so together. This is unity with community!

Being a part of community is being part of something much bigger than ourselves. A way we reach the world with love because someone shared this message with us. May it always continue to grow with our support. Unity with Community!

Happy Holidays and a prosperous What if?

WHAT IF we only had your spirit to go by this holiday season? How is yours filled? I hope you are filled with peace, love, joy, and gratitude. More than what any thing could ever bring you. Another level, spiritual and internally always with you. This may be the only thing that many may have right now in any hope, but my hope remains to be lifted and will be able to share this with others too! Remember what this season is about and we will never be without. Every blessing is accounted for and none ever too small.
God has given me more than what is ever humanly possible, including the reason for why we celebrate year after year. The miracles that have given all of us reasons to believe, hope and love. This year is not different from past years of loss, grief, challenge, especially during the holidays for so many. Though this year has given us a common bond in which we understand together and believe a bit more.
I recognize through those who have made any part of my life journey a blessed one, was always through HIM as well.
I couldn’t imagine otherwise. What If?
A blessing we each share and continue to bless one anothed each day.

My wish for all is to be well. Not just physically but coming out mentally strong and thriving after a year of trying to survive. May we be kind and share with others even more so going forward. Continue to unite to support and lift one another. This year has been a huge hole we are all trying to climb out of. Let us help one another, not kick one down, or leave behind. Remaining a world, community, family, and even on an individual level in which we continue to positively shift as we move forward.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and continued blessings! Keep your spirits lifted and remember the reason! Warmest wishes to all during this season and a prosperous New Year!

What do you hope to see? What if..

Unity with Community!

Ideal Educational Planning If Schools Must Re-Open In The Fall.

I know that many parents of school-aged children are eager to get their children back to the classroom setting. However, I too understand the greater concerns of those parents who have children with chronic health conditions that already put them at risk- COVID or no COVID. As the new school year approaches, so does a new season- including that of the common cold and flu. Fall is typically the nightmare for both children and parents whom have exacerbated symptoms of asthma and any other underlying chronic health conditions. Much of which is already at the risk of health concerns, hospitalizations, school absences which are seen every year. Just ask any school nurse! Now, tack on the increased risk to our children of the exposure of COVID-19 once out of isolation and back into the public setting if schools must fully reopen in the Fall. This is a very real concern for parents right now as there is still so much unknown about COVID-19, the number of cases continue to spike, and the start of the new school year is just around the corner.

It has been announced in our community that school’s are due to re- open September 8th. However, if our community remains to be greatly threatened by COVID-19 by this time, shouldn’t parents have the option of continued virtual classroom learning for their children made available through their child’s school district? At least this can be an initial and temporary option until it is deemed safe to fully enter back into the public classroom setting; based on the public health concerns we could still be facing in just under two months away. I look at weighing the risks over the benefits on this current debate and rightful concern for parents, teachers, school officials, healthcare professionals and our elected officials are all having right now. Children whom are chronically ill, immune-compromised, and are receiving ongoing medical supervision and treatment will be under grave risk of COVID-19 if placed in a public classroom setting while a large number of cases remain. There isn’t a vaccination currently available, the research of the Corona Virus is still widely unpredictable nor fully understood, and passive immunity is not yet a protective barrier for children, especially to mention the educators and staff who are also at risk. However, if schools must re- open according to the decision of local city and state officials, there should be a safe option available too. If parents had the ability to choose to continue online or at home education receiving supportive tools and curriculum from their children’s school as they did earlier on in the year, having this option can help alleviate some of the concern for class size, and management of health and safety precautions in the classroom and school setting. Parents can still have their child(ren) registered in their school and continue to receive the educational benefits of the resources without the pressure and risk of sending their child physically to school prematurely-In the situation that COVID-19 remains uncontrolled. With secondary options being limited otherwise, or taking a child out of their registered place of education isn’t ideal. However, as communities unite for sustainable support in the education, health, and safety planning in the near future, we can trust to see a positive outcome for all. Parents, students, educators, and community leaders should have the ability to feel safe and secure about returning to school in the Fall while we are still very much under this pandemic crisis. Many battle their health on a regularly given day, but currently the struggle for many is greater as they are doing as much as any can to remain safe during this war on public health.

Educators, parents, and students across the nation have had to adapt to the change from classroom to virtual learning when the outbreak of COVID-19 initially occurred. While this was an initial shock for everyone, it was also a relatively successful effort throughout communities world wide. Not everyone copes and adapts the same and that is natural, understandable, and very much OK. Each child learns differently, each parent’s home situation is unique, and not every school has a high level of support that it should to function at its highest potential. Though, in every case, all should be reviewed and considered for the greater support and resources to remain and/ or made available for a successful outcome, especially for such an unpredictable future. With this said, it gives more of a reason to have either option as the new school year approaches. If schools must re-open then at the very least temporary educational resources provided by the school district for those parents and children who have the ability to successfully do so at home, should remain. Is there any harm otherwise?  Children can return to the classroom when the risks are far less.

I have reached out to the Principal of my child’s school on this subject, also local city officials and hope to receive clarification on what options have been discussed, if any. I encourage those to do the same if you are one to approach the same concerns for the education, our community’s health, and safety during this time. Having a sustainable option, even on a temporary basis can help prevent any increased potential for unnecessary issues coming back around in the future. What is not ideal is having an additional outbreak, another repeated cycle and continues, while we still have much to know and tackle on this monster. We are not there yet, and even though the idea that school must go on is a concern for many, well so is the health and safety for others now and most importantly, the future for all. Having the option to potentially reduce any risk sounds winning rather the very pressured situation of not having an option at all. At this present moment, the risks outweigh the benefits. This solution could be ideal for any one no matter what side of the fence you are on. Thoughts?

Stay safe and support. Unity with Community!

July 5, 2007, Perhaps this was my new found Independence Day. A day I celebrate every year with simple thanks and reflection. Just as I would any holiday or my birthday. After this day, I definitely felt like I was born again. Just with more innate wisdom and strength. A day that changed my life forever. It was a day that taught me how unexpectedly we can lose our’s, how precious our life is to have, and the blessings of survival we receive to strengthen who we are spiritually, physically, and mentally.
This was a larger than life lesson that continues to take me through my everyday. Not one day ever taken for granted. Not to do what I please, but striving to live for what is good, and what is right. Bringing larger opportunity as fulfillment in my everyday.
After breaking my back, hip, femur, and pelvis in a freak accident, I was wheelchair bound after surgery, extensive physical therapy to learn to walk again, after a very long time.
Much of the credit to my recovery is to the great love and care from the lives of my community. I will never forget the most humane acts of others and one particular nurse that one could ever be so blessed to have. It was the most valuable experience I could ever have in my life. Not only was I fighting for the ability to live, but another meaning beyond what this truly meant came over me.
My physical core may have been crushed, but I never let it interfere with the core of who I was. However it strengthened me in areas in which are magnified today. I continue to dance through life and count every blessing. One that taught me how to genuinely give to others during their most vulnerable times in their lives as well. Knowing that even the smallest reach could be the only one they may have.
We all have a story, maybe a few but always remember what has brought you here now and all that continues you through!
Whatever you may be going through in a days period of time, everyday reminds you that you survived. When I am faced with the biggest challenges, I know that I have literally survived worse. There are those days where you may think it was not getting what you wanted. It’s not always about you. That is when you refocus and trust the why.
That power keeps me walking forward with my head up and my heart full each and everyday.
Keep your head up and smile on! You too have made it!
Remain strong through your journey. It is through your walk that makes your story. Keep surviving and supporting! Uplift and support others along the way.
Remember that life is needed to live, but health is needed to live well.
Take care of you, your loved ones, and community! Always.
Unity with Community!
